Black Friday craziness
Go go go! This year, almost every store stunted with Black Friday deals. The shopping streets were full of eye-catching posters and our Instagram feeds colored black with thick screaming white letters. Ignoring the latest addition to the Dutch shopping calendar is difficult from an entrepreneurial perspective. However, some brands surprised with openly not participating in the craziness that is called Black Friday. Decreasing consumation is a trend and is being espoused by more and more brands.These brands were not participating in the Black Friday craziness of this year.
IKEA
Instead of participating in the Black Friday craziness, Ikea chose to do things a little greener. The brand posted guides on their site to show you how to make Black Friday, and every day, more sustainable.

Sofa Company
Instead of participating in Black Friday, the Sofa Company launched the concept of ‘Green Friday’ this year. The brand organized an ecological afterwork drinks ‘Green Friday’ on November 29th. With this action the Danish design brand decides to not plant discounts, but to plant trees instead. For each piece of furniture sold (between 8 nov – 1 dec), the company will plant fifty trees.

O my Bag
The Dutch designer bag brandn O my Bag also twisted the actual intention of Black Friday. A 100% of the revenue from sale items of this Black Friday Weekend 2021, will be donated to fund 3 Brickfield Schools in West Bengal, India. This means that the special discounts are used for a good cause.
